services
You are unique.
And so is your work.
So your online presence should feel unique, too – not like a pre-packaged product bought off a shelf.
Whether you’re a biotech start-up, a rock band on the rise, a debut author, an established law firm, or a small non-profit, your website is your face to the world, and reflects who you are and where you’re headed.
I’m passionate about helping writers, artists, musicians, and other creative individuals showcase and promote their work. I also love working with start-ups, academics, non-profits, and small businesses.
With over twenty years of professional design experience, I know how important it is to take the time to carefully consider each client’s aesthetics and sensibilities. I offer both print and web design services, and will work with you from concept through completion.
Styles range from elegant to artsy, classic to sleek, corporate to cutting edge, but no matter what the style, all work incorporates my meticulous attention to detail and love of typography. I do not work from cookie cutter templates, and I’m always on the lookout for cool new features I can incorporate into my clients’ sites, including page animations, filterable galleries, media carousels, social media feeds, and more.
I genuinely enjoy getting to know my clients as unique individuals, and using design to help convey your sensibility. I look forward to hearing from you!
the Process
Our design process starts with a phone consultation. We’ll discuss content, functionality, and style. Once I’m sure I understand what you’re aiming for, I’ll gather your materials, set up your design(s), and refine it with you. And then I’ll set it into motion!
the details
There are an awful lot of web platforms these days – my job as your designer is to help you find the most appropriate and economical solution for your needs. When I build your site, I consider your aesthetics, objectives and long-term goals. Then I make the design feel wholly yours… and make sure it’s clean, elegant, and beautifully functional. Once your site is up and running, I’m happy to hand you the reins – or stick around to help you maintain it. I also design print and online collateral – including brochures, info sheets, rack cards, business cards, and other marketing and educational material – for clients of all kinds!
website design for authors!
Congratulations!
You’ve sold your book! Now what?
When my debut novel came out in 2018, it was an exhilarating time – but suddenly I found myself unsure of all I needed to do. The pre-pub and publishing process can feel exciting, overwhelming, and anxiety-provoking all at once. But creating an eye-catching online presence is one area where I can help.
As an author myself, I am intimately familiar with the online needs of authors. I offer New Author web design packages at reasonable prices, and can help you with the things you need to get up and running:
- a custom-designed website that uniquely reflects you and the style of your book
- matching bookmarks
- matching event postcards
- web banners and graphics for social media that showcase all those blurbs you worked so hard to get!
- site maintenance and updates at a reasonable rate (if you want my help!)
Already have a website?
No problem! Lots of authors contact me when their second (or third, or fourth…) books are coming out. I’m more than happy to help you redesign your website to accommodate your growing needs, and I’m always available to provide site maintenance and updates for my clients. I’ve helped many debut clients transition into seasoned authors, with two, three, four books, or more!

Kate Woodworth, debut author website design
I loved working with the cover of Kate Woodworth’s debut novel, Little Great Island. I kept the site spare and light so the colors would pop.

about me
why i LOVE being a designer
I believe my diverse background and wide range of interests help make me a better designer.
My background is in science. I studied biology at Stanford University, and then again at MIT. I consider myself logical, rational, practical. But I also write (mostly fiction), play music, make art, dance, and appreciate all things creative. As a designer, I get to use both sides of my brain, while also getting to know people who do fascinating things. Which feels like the best of everything.
art
I started drawing “LoveBubble” art when I was in college. Originally, these were marker drawings, an excuse to color. Years later, I branched out to painting with acrylics. I love playing with color, and enjoy the slow pace and attention to detail that painting requires. There’s no “Undo” button, you have to own your mistakes! I’ve worked with sculptors, illustrators, photographers, lighting designers, landscape architects, and more.
I love helping visual artists of all kinds showcase their work.
Dance
writing
As a working writer, I have a deep appreciation for the power of language. My novel, Everything Here Is Beautiful, was published by Viking/Penguin in 2018, and named a Best Fiction title by the American Bookseller’s Association, Amazon, O Magazine, and Goodreads, among others. My short stories and essays have appeared in publications such as the New York Times, Tin House, the Southern Review, Missouri Review, and Harvard Review, and twice received special mention for the Pushcart Prize.
I understand the importance of clear, concise communication, and can help my clients craft messages, write content, and edit, too.
For my fellow authors, I offer debut website packages, site redesigns, as well as bookmark and banner design. View my author website at: miratlee.com.
Music
I enjoy helping musicians translate the vibe of their music into something visual and unique.
And NOW…
And I hope I bring joy, too – an appreciation for the small moments of beauty in our everyday lives.

“Mira was an absolute pleasure to work with. Because she has extensive experience creating websites, she understands what works and what doesn’t. Since she too is a writer—and a very good one—she anticipates an author’s needs before they arise, and when it comes to the work itself, she is topnotch. She works quickly and effectively, and truly aims to create websites that match exactly what each author is looking for. I couldn’t be happier with my new website.”
—Kyle Semmel, literary translator and author

I feel so lucky to have found her. My website was completely transformed. It looks creative and professional, just the image I want to project.”
—Nancy Kilgore, author of Wild Mountain
“Years ago, when I first saw Mira’s personal website for her gorgeous book, Everything Here is Beautiful, I knew I would seek her help when it came time to build my own. Mira used the bright colors and images from my book cover to make my site a beautiful extension of my novel. She is a writer herself, which I think makes all the difference—she knows that as writers we’re not just looking for a landing page to sell copies, but a place of connection for our readers. I recommend her to everyone.”
—Diane Zinna, author of The All-Night Sun
“I have waited years to make a website, but because I’m so particular, I kept putting it off. A friend suggested Mira and I couldn’t be happier! She created exactly what I was hoping for, even though I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for! My advice to anyone fortunate enough to work with Mira: Give her your concept and allow her to work her magic!”
—Richard Lyntton, author of North Korea Deception
“THANK YOU!!! I love my website!! I’m obsessed! I’ll be telling all my author peeps about your work!”
—Jen Waite, author of Survival Instincts
“Mira took my existing website and completely transformed it, turning it into an entirely new site that wove together my book covers with my writing aesthetic. Mira is not just creative, she is responsive and helpful and an all-around delight to work with!”

“Mira knew exactly how to organize my multi-book site and make it come alive. She’s creative and focused and understands book marketing as well as design.”
—Kelly Simmons, author of Not My Boy
“Mira designed a beautiful website to support my debut. She first helped me with transitioning from my previous website, choosing which content to migrate, and with layouts and colors. I also needed a more professional and polished space to feature press and upcoming events and she created just that. It takes a huge amount of time to prepare for publishing and promoting a book and I trusted Mira’s work to represent me online.”
—Sejal Shah, author of This Is One Way To Dance
“I heard great things from fellow authors regarding the talents of Mira T. Lee, so I checked out some of her websites… they were all unique, functional, reflected the authors and their books, and a downright pleasure to look at. For my debut novel, Mira created a website far better than I even envisioned. She has excellent communication skills, contacting me just at the right moments, and always with great suggestions. I highly recommend working with her!”
—Tracey Enerson Wood, author of The Engineer’s Wife
“I love the author website Mira T. Lee made for me when I launched my new book! Taking my cover as her starting point, she created a clean, functional, handsome, easy to update site with just a touch of whimsy. An author herself, she is the perfect author’s web designer.”
—Christina Thompson, author of Sea People
“I am thrilled with the excellent service provided by Mira T. Lee. Mira’s creativity, flexibility and responsiveness made redesigning my author website a true pleasure. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”
—Heather Frimmer, author of Bedside Manners
“Mira did a fabulous job in designing my website. She listened carefully when I expressed my preferences and was able to transform my vision into a creative, vibrant website that perfectly met my needs. She is easy to work with and responsive to even the most minor requests. All in all, an excellent experience!”
—Paulette Woolf, writer
“I’ve long admired Mira’s design work, and I was thrilled when I learned that she would be willing to overhaul and replace my aging site. Because I was “between books,” and working to retrieve some rights, I didn’t want to use any specific cover art as my background. A (beautiful) writer herself, Mira understood that I’d need to brainstorm and play with options. When I finally realized I wanted my new site to feel like a “space” where readers might visit me, Mira was ready to create exactly what I imagined. It was such a delight to work with Mira, and I love my new site!”
