When I decided to “relaunch” my graphic design business, redesigning my own author website was my number one project. The old one was fine, but it was built with hand-coded HTML, and learning WordPress was a hurdle I’d long avoided. WordPress makes things “easy” – except when you’re a a control-freak designer who is used to being able to control every pixel of every layout. Fortunately, I found a lightweight WP Theme that is completely customizable, and I learned how to use Elementor Pro, which gives me just about all the control I need. I have to thank my old friend and colleague, Bob Gourley, who has allowed me to pester him endlessly for advice and tech support. And the folks at GeneratePress are incredible, too. One of their tech support guys spent an entire afternoon helping me debug an issue with my site that was driving me bonkers. So now, I’m feeling pretty comfortable with this “new” technology, and happy to be back to focusing on creating beautiful designs.
